A STARTING POINT
Cross-border wealth planning
Review the connections between where your family lives and where assets are held.
A PLANNING QUESTION
Work in Taiwan. Savings overseas. Children studying abroad.
Family plans can involve several places at once. I start by identifying who lives where, how the assets are held and what the family expects to use them for. Any tax or legal conclusions need to be checked against the relevant facts and jurisdictions.
Map the people and places
List current and planned places of residence, relevant citizenships or residence permissions, and the countries in which accounts, companies or property are held.
Review access and responsibilities
Clarify who owns each asset, who can manage it, and which records the family can locate. Identify uncertainties about account access, reporting or succession for further review.
Coordinate the next questions
Bring existing advice and unresolved questions together. Where specialist input is needed, define the issue clearly so legal and tax professionals can work from the same family and asset information.
Where we can begin
Start with the countries involved and the decision you are considering. Detailed account balances and document copies are not needed for the introductory call.
